A comprehensive dataset of political entity abbreviations covering ISO 3166-1 country codes (alpha-2 and alpha-3), US states and territories (USPS codes and AP style abbreviations), and Canadian provinces and territories (Canada Post codes and traditional abbreviations). Includes commonly seen non-ISO variants (UK, EU, UN) and historical codes (USSR, Yugoslavia, East Germany) with descriptive annotations.

  • full_form. the full name (e.g., "United States", "California", "Ontario")

  • category. type of abbreviation: country_alpha2, country_alpha3, us_state, us_district, us_territory, ca_province, ca_territory

  • description. classification of the entry (e.g., "sovereign state", "dependent territory", "USPS state code", "Canada Post provincial code", "non-ISO variant of GB", "withdrawn ISO 3166-3 code")
