A dictionary of over 3 million scientific names for plants, animals, fungi, and microbes from the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS) and UniProt. There are roughly 3.5 million rows, but 3.2 million unique names.

Variables

  • name. Text of full scientific name (e.g. Turdus maximus)

  • kingdom_name. Kingdom name for organism

  • source. ITIS or UniProt

  • tsn. Taxonomic Serial Number from ITIS

  • kingdom_tsn. Kingdom Taxonomic Serial Number from ITIS

  • taxon_id. Taxonomic identifier from UniProt
